I got started Square Dancing while I was music director at a church in 2007, at the encouragement of my choir members. I met my (at that time future) wife, Katharina, at the church; she was one of the ones encouraging me to learn to dance. Very quickly we were dancing together as a couple, and I proposed to her at the Illinois Sweetheart Dance in 2008.

I have been a musician for most of my life. I started singing almost before I started talking, playing the piano before I learned to read and picking up many instruments throughout my life. It was only natural that after learning to Square Dance I would learn to call. I am currently the club Caller/Instructor for Petunia City Squares in Beloit, WI where I teach weekly lessons and workshops and call for special events. In addition, I teach Square Dance for various other Square Dance clubs in Illinois. I call for dances, workshops and other events throughout Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana. I have called at several National conventions and for State conventions throughout the midwest including Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana and Tennessee.

I like to call dances with music that is upbeat and familiar. Much of the music I use is music that can be heard on the radio and includes music from artists such as George Strait, Charlie Daniels, Alabama, Brooks and Dunn, Sawyer Brown, Eddie Cochran, STYX, Foreigner, Doobie Brothers and even Guns n Roses. I like to dance and call high energy whenever possible.
